The movement was created in 2006 by Maureen Yancey, mother of world-renowned hip-hop producer James Yancey aka J Dilla (RIP). It was formed to keep his legacy alive, and to raise funds to continue lupus research and provide quality arts / music training for underprivileged children.
One way of raising funds is through the sale of shirts, so go ahead, and the money you spend will benefit a good cause.
